Lodge St Andrew 524 – Annual Sponsored Walk 2010

 

The lodge will hold its annual walk on the 8th of August 2010 from Strathyre to Callander. The bus will leave the club in Kittoch street at 9:00am and will leave from Callander at 5:00pm. A dance will be held at the club in conjunction with the walk, on Friday 27th of August 2010, entrance will be at £5 a ticket and light snacks will be served. Visitation – Lodge Oban Commercial 180 – Oban – 22nd May 2010

On 22nd May 2010, 21 Brethren accompanied the RWM to Oban Commercial Lodge No. 180, where for the first time ever a visiting Lodge from out-with the Oban area conferred a degree.  The degree team conferred the FC degree on this occasion and were congratulated at the close of the ceremony by the RWPGM of Argyll and the Isles, Bro. Douglas Craig.   After the ceremony Bro. R. Cook RWM presented an engraved trowel to the RWM of Lodge Oban Commercial No.180 to commemorate the occasion.  The Brethren then spent some time in harmony with the Brethren in Oban.


Lodge Rededication Ceremony – 10th April 2010

On Saturday, 10th May 2010, the Lodge celebrated 100 years of Freemasonry within the hall at 38 Kittoch Street.  The ceremony was conducted by the RWPGM of Renfrewshire East Bro. David A. Reid accompanied by the DPM and SPGM’s and other Provincial Office-bearers.  The ceremony included a short history of the Lodge and the background to the acquisition of the hall by RWDPGM Br. John Millar.  The RWPGM then gave a short lecture on the Lewis as depicted on the EA tracing Board and the Foundation Stone was raised and proved before figuratively being placed in the North East corner.  The elements were then consecrated and perambulated and saluted with Grand Honours.  The brethren paid their respects to those Brethren whose foresight had established the Lodge in the hall.  The RWPGM then presented the working tools and gave a short address to the Brethren on the West wall.  At the close of the ceremony Bro. R. Cook RWM conferred Honorary Membership of the Lodge on Bro. Frank Johnston PPGM, John Millar DPGM, and Neil Fraser SPGM. A total of 107 Brethren attended the ceremony and many stayed for a most enjoyable meal and harmony.


Lodge Charity Walk - Sunday 2nd August 2009

The Lodge is running a charity walk on Sunday the 2nd August 2009, with all proceeds going to Ward 22 - Still Birth Unit, Wishaw General Hospital (Charity Number: SC005674). The walk will take place over the scenic ten mile walk from Strathyre to Callander, in the Trossachs. After the walk, the walkers will be treated to a spot of lunch and hospitality from the brethren of Lodge Ben Ledi No. 614. There will be coach travel for all walkers to and from Callander - leaving Kittoch Street at 9 am.

June 29th  2009 - Golf News

The lodge would like to congratulate Bro. J. N. MacDonald, P.M. on winning the annual PGL Stableford Competition, which was held recently at the Old Ranfurly Golf Club in Bridge of Weir.

The trophy will be presented to Iain at the next Tri-Annual Communication of the PGL on Friday 30th October.

May 16th 2009 - Report on Special Meeting.

On Saturday 16th May, Lodge St. Andrew had the pleasure of welcoming a deputation from Lodge Oban Commercial 180, which was headed by their own R.W.M. Bro. Sandy MacLeod. Lodge Oban Commercial then carried out the work of the afternoon, by conferring an excellent F.C. degree on one of our candidates. At the close of the meeting, Lodge Oban Commercial presented Lodge St. Andrew with a suitably inscribed vase, which is now on display in our display cabinet. A meal and an harmony lasting for a few hours followed after the meeting.

At the same meeting, we had the pleasure of the company of Bro. John Miller, Depute Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire East as well as Bro. Douglas Craig, Provincial Grand Master of Argyll and The Isles.

The lodge would like to thank Lodge Oban Commercial for an excellent degree as well as the brethren who attended the meeting.

March 24th 2009 - Presentation of donation to the Marcus Humphrey Home and Honorary Member.

During the Annual Provincial Lodge visit to the lodge on the Tuesday 24th March 2009, the RWM presented Bro. David A. Reid, the Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire East, with a cheque for £200 as a donation to the Marcus Humphrey Home. This money was raised from a collection taken after an appeal given on behalf of the home at the last Burns Supper.

In the same evening, honorary membership was conferred by the RWM on Bro. Andrew Hosie, Substitute Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire East.


March 24th 2009 - East Kilbride Lodges Annual Devine Service

This years East Kilbride Lodges Devine Service will be hosted by Lodge Kil Byrd at Douglas Hall (Bosfield Place, East Kilbride) on Thursday 30th April 2009 at 7pm. All brethren and their families are encouraged to attend.


Lodge Annual Dance at Dunoon

Saturday 13th June - Sunday 14th June 2009

Price of £70 includes return coach transfer from Kittoch Street at 10am on Saturday 13th June to Dunoon with stops at Balloch Freeport, Arrochar and Strachur.

Dinner, Bed, Breakfast in Glenmorag Hotel in Dunoon including live entertainment.

Return coach via Tarbet, Crainlarich and Lochearnhead, with stop in Callander with time to explore, back at Kittoch Street late afternoon/early evening Sunday 14th June.

17th February 2009 - St. Andrew Lodges Gathering.

This year's St. Andrew Lodges gathering will be held at Lodge Irvine St. Andrew 149, within their M.H. at 16 Bank Street, Irvine on Saturday 11th April at 2pm, where a reigning masters E.A. degree will take place in which our RWM will be participating.
