2007 News


November 14th 2007 - New R.W.M. Elect

The Lodge is pleased to announce that the Right Worshipful Master Elect for 2007 - 08 is Bro. Justin A. Cullen and the lodges Annual Installation will take place on Saturday 15th December 2007 at 3:55pm in The Old Parish Church Hall, Montgomery Street, East Kilbride. The Installing Masters on this occassion will be Bro. Derek J. Bell, P.M. and Bro. Ian Bell, P.M.


New Lodge Tie

1st November 2007 - New Lodge Ties

The lodge is pleased to announce the arrival of the new lodge ties. (pictured right - click on the image for a larger version.)

The new design reverts back to the lodge colour of crimson. Embrobbiered on the bottom left of tie is the saltire superimposed in a Shield with the lodges name and number . The imprint of this shield is repeated throughout the fabric of the tie.

The bow-tie version will arrive shortly.

24th October 2007 - Cork Degree Report

On Friday 19th October, a Cork Degree was held within the masonic hall. Eighteen candidates went through the Cork degree and on the night, a sum of £318.32 was raised for The Haven Respite Centre. A special thanks goes to Bro. Derek Bell, P.M. for his efforts in organising this event, as well as to the degree workers Bro. Billy Elliot, P.M. , Bro. Ian Bell, P.M. and Bro. Lindsay Fisher, P.M. 1557.


1st October 2007 - Sportman's Dinner Report.

On Friday 28th September, over fifty gents attended the lodge’s annual Sportsman’s Dinner which was held in the masonic hall. The attendees were treated to an excellent five course meal, followed by entertaining speeches from ex-referee Brian McGinlay and ex-teacher Stewart Coull. A total of £1,225 was raised during the evening for the Kilbryde Hospice Appeal. A special thanks goes to Ian Bell, P.M. for his efforts in organising this very successful event.


11th September 2007 - Presentation of Jubilee Certificate

During the last regular meeting on the Tuesday 11th September 2007, Bro. Andrew Gordon P.M. received his Jubilee Certificate which was presented to him by Bro. David A. Reid, Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire East.

Bro. Andrew was initiated into Lodge Neptune No. 419 on the 11th June 1957 and in April 1975 affiliated to Lodge St.Andrew. Bro. Andrew held various offices in 524 before becoming RWM in 1984-85. In 1997, he was appointed as PGL Almoner and served in that office for 10 years. In November 2007, Andrew was given Honorary Grand Rank of Architect by the Grand Lodge of Scotland. Bro. Andrew is still a active member of 524, having served as Depute Master on three separate occasions and was chairman of the committee which organised the lodges 125th anniversary celebrations in 1997.

In the same evening, honorary memberships were conferred on both Bro. John Drennan and Bro. Dixon Drye, Immediate Past Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire East.
